Ava Sue White is here!!
She is 2 weeks early and we love her so much and are so happy she is health and strong. Tuesday night May 8th I was up watching the office, it was getting late and I probably should have been asleep but it was a good episode, so I wanted to finish watching, even though now I couldn't tell you what the episode was about. Anyway at 11:30pm I had gotten up to go to the bathroom and when I got back in bed I felt a little leak. I thought oh my goodness I just went and now I have pee leaking out. Then I thought for a minute and stood up thinking that if it was my water more would come out. After 5 mins nothing, so I just assumed it was pee. By now I couldn't go to sleep cuz my mind is racing and again I had to pee. This time I felt the difference between pee and my broken water. So I start brushing my hair and freshing my face cuz we are heading to the hospital!! I woke up Stoney and told him to make some phone calls cuz someone needs to be with Penny cuz my water broke. Our friend Thomas was more than happy to help and he was on his way to spend the night and be with Penny. My adrenaline is racing and I just can't sit still and now I offically know that my water is broken!!! Thomas gets to our house and we talk for a minute going over Penny's morning routine and then we are off. We were calm and just coming to terms with the fact that Ava would be here soon. We get to the hospital around 1am, get checked in, get all hooked up and get cozy for some sleep. They wanted me to just relax and see how my body did on its own through the night and if I needed any help they would decide in the morning when my doctor got in. I was in and out of sleep, my mind was racing, I couldn't get comfortable, I had a ton of emotions. By 7am my doc was in and came to visit. A little after 8am my nurse came in and said that my contractions had slowed down and she was going to give me a little pitocin and fluids. Around 9am Stoney was leaving to take care of things with Penny, Thomas had to leave for work and we couldn't get a hold of anyone to watch her. So he left and I was fine and just prayed that he would get things taken care of as fast as possible. Between 9 and 10 the meds and my body kicked it into gear!! I was having very strong contractions and very strong pressure. I could tell she was on the move downward!! By 10am I was ready for the epidural. Beside the contractions the epidural was the hardest part. Having to pass a contraction while sitting bent over and still was so so so hard!! The doc was great and would work quickly in between. This time getting the epidural was a little more painful and when she pushed the tube into my back I felt the nerves twinge all the way to my hips. By this time Stoney was back and had gotten things settled with Penny. He came back just in time to watch them put the epidural in place, he thinks it's cool to watch. By 10:30 I could feel less and less pain. But the pressure was still there. AT 11:30am my nurse came in and said that my doctor was going to make his rounds at noon and we would see how I was doing. But then she said lets just check you before he comes anyway. She checked me and pushed around my belly and then happily said you're ready. She got on the phone and started to get the room ready. This delivery was so different I couldn't feel any pain but the pressure was so intense. I felt pressure the whole time I pushed, which was good cuz then the nurse didn't have to when to push. I pushed for about 10mins and then I felt her head come out (that's how much pressure I could feel)!! By 11:57am she was all the way out and I just cried. I was so happy she was finally here and everything had gone smoothly. She let out a couple of small cries but mostly just seemed very content.

Ava weighed 8lbs 2oz and was 21 inches long.
Only 11oz and 1/2inch smaller than Penny.
I loved having her skin to skin and now am going to do that when we have more babies. It was so neat and she just cuddled and was so relax. Within the 1st hour of life she had latched and is still a good eater!!
The next day Stoney and Penny came down to hang out and take us home. Penny was so excited and said she had missed me and she had a fun time at the hospital. She saw Ava for just a mintue and then the nursery came and got her so she could get some tests done.
When Ava finally came back, Penny was so into her. She loved to stand on the bed next to her cib. She was so sweet when holding her. Penny is a great big sister. She is always checking on her and laughs when Ava has the hiccups. She always asks to hold her. They are going to have lots of fun together.
This is our first family of 4 picture and it is the best one we could get. Penny was ready to go home and so was I.
Ava is such a good baby and hardly ever cries. She is noisy and grunts and coos. She is a very content baby!! And for mother's day even let me get 6 hours of sleep at night!!
She did great her 1st bath, even though Stoney only took pictures when she was crying! But when her cord falls off she is going to love the water.
Penny was very interested and is a great helper.
Penny was an expert at putting on the lotion.
We love Ava so much and are so happy she is here!! She is a wonderful additional to our family. We are very grateful to our Heavenly Father who has given us one of his precious daughters.
