Not So Happy New Year

Not so Happy New Year for us. 2013 came in with sick girls and then a sick mom. So needless to say that the month of January was full of laying in bed, tv shows and movies, crackers, soup, medicine, warm baths and showers, and cleaning, cleaning cleaning. The girls got the regular flu and I got the stomach flu. So even though I hate being sick, I am glad I got the worst of it. So when we weren't sick we spent time around the house or in the backyard trying not to get sick again.
These 2 girls really love each other. They have so much fun together and Penny really is a great big sister and always wants to play with Ava. She is always showing concern when Ava gets hurt or tries to calm her when she's upset. Ava looks up to Penny and is always watching her and trying to be near her. I can't wait for the day when their imaginations can run wild together and I pray that they will continue to adore and admire each other.

Ava 8 Months

Wow 8 Months!!! We are still the sweetest baby ever but you did give me quite the scare because you got real sick after new years. Penny had been sick after Christmas, so it just got past to you. The day started out fine, we were hanging out with Whitney and Jane, had lunch at the park and just enjoyed some great weather outside. We came home for naps and after you woke up you were burning up and so lethargic. Not like you and your eyes were glazed over and you weren't really up for smiling or responding. Your breathing sound wheezy and thick. It really scared me, so off we went to urgent care. They got us right in and started checking you out quickly. Bad thing that you were sick but good thing you were small cuz they rushed us in first. Your temp was 103 and your breathing was so congested. You had a bad case of the flu. They prescribed you Tamaflu and breathing treatments. We got home and you got your medicine and went right to sleep. It was easy to get you to take the tamaflu, but during breathing treatments you either had to be sleeping or listening to music. When you were tired of having the tube in your face, you would fight and try to push away from me. You were a very good sick baby, the next day you were happy and smiling, more yourself. You have learned how to feed yourself and can get the little puffs into your mouth. You still love to eat but still cry when it's the green stuff. You have learned how to clap your hands and do it to copy or when we say patty cake. You can stand while holding something, but can't get up by yourself. You still don't try to roll over and don't like to be left on your stomach. You have become a little clingy, but I think due to being sick. You can sit and play for quite a while and like to be with Penny in the morning playing and watching shows. Everyone is always commenting how cute you are. You love baths and still look up to and adore Penny.

Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam

Penny is officially a sunbeam. Crazy and weird....I am so excited for her because she is going to love Primary and making friends and learning. Her first time in primary didn't go so well. First Ava was sick, so I was home with her. So Papa took her and she was sitting fine and probably just observing and being shy but then after a while she was done and tried to leave. She wanted to go back to her old class. Then she saw Papa and started crying, so Papa had to sit with her the rest of the time.

It took about 3 weeks but now she loves primary. She gets excited to go and always tells me afterwards "I didn't cry". She walks in and takes her seat all by herself and always has to show her dress to her teacher. Her teacher is great and Penny always remembers what she learned, even if it is a tiny piece of the lesson. Very cool to see her mind soaking it all in.
